The route

Route 44 is part of the award-winning National Cycle Network. The full route will ultimately run from Shrewsbury to Cinderford and is currently signed from Shrewsbury as far as the Herefordshire border, where the route follows the national byway as far as Leominster; the 58-mile section of route which runs through Shropshire is called the Six Castles Cycleway, and travels through Shrewsbury, Bishops Castle and Ludlow then onwards to Leominster.
