Shropshire's Great Outdoors

Bishops Castle Round & About Walk 30 April 2016

Ramble, Amble or Scramble (choose from a 22.5, 13 or 9.5 mile walk)
Ramble
This beautiful 22.5 mile circular walk over the rolling Shropshire hills from and back to Bishop’s Castle, via Offa’s Dyke, Shropshire Way, the Walcot Estate and Bury Ditches, with a welcome hot vegetarian lunch provided at Clun.

Scramble
A 13 mile walk from Bishop’s Castle, climbing up to Offa’s Dyke then enjoying views along the Cefns before dropping down past its castle to Clun, for lunch and transport back to Bishop’s Castle.

Amble
Transport is provided to Clun for lunch before a 9.5 mile undulating stroll to Bury Ditches, then through the normally private Walcot Estate, and Oakeley Mynd, to Bishop’s Castle.

The route crosses quite remote countryside some of which, notably the Walcot Estate, is not normally open to the public. But don’t worry about getting lost! Clear signage, written instructions and helpful marshals are provided.
Local hostelries offer discounts to walkers, and this event signals the start of the Bishops Castle walking festival. All proceeds to go to Bloodwise, who have been investing in research into blood cancer since 1960.

Entry Fees:
Online entry: £16
Postal entry: £17 (for a postal entry form email eboffey@bloodwise.org.uk)
