This walk takes you through town then up past Oswald’s Well to the waterworks. Go across a field, cross the road and into the next field which follows the track of a driveway for the original house. Follow the track up and into the remains of the old house. Double back on yourself, across the top of the field which gives lovely views of south Shropshire before returning to town. Start
Exit the Bus Station towards the Railway Tavern, and turn left up Beatrice Street. After a couple of hundred yards turn right up the hill which is Castle Street. At top of Castle Street, cross Willow Street and go along Welsh Walls.
Step 2
Keep park on your left until sharp right bend when you should cross and turn left into Brynhafod Road. Keep playing field on left, and turn left onto Jennings Road. At end of Jennings Road bear left onto Maserfield Road.
Step 3
Walk up this road which gives you the opportunity to stop at Oswald’s well. At the top of this road you have reached the water treatment works. Turn left along lane and out through gates.
Step 4
Turn right onto road. After passing the house on the left, go over the stile and bear right across the field. At the end of the field go over the stile onto the road Go straight across the road over stile to another field.
Step 5
Follow this track along, gradually bearing right and up over a stile into woods. Go straight ahead then turn right at T-junction where footpath also goes left – ignore this. At the end of wood go over stile back into field and go straight on.
Step 6
Head down to edge of field, the bottom left corner, over a stream by a plank, then the stile. Once over stile turn right onto road, then turn right at junction and carry on down this road until past waterworks on left.
Step 7
Carry on down until you reach the main Trefonen road. Turn left and follow this road into town. At traffic lights on crossroads turn left and walk through town centre.
Step 8
At junction bear right onto Cross Street then at bottom go left onto Leg Street. At end of Leg Street turn right onto Beatrice Street and back to bus station.
