Shropshire's Great Outdoors

Revised Edition of Popular Shrewsbury Walks Book Released

Shrewsbury Ramblers have announced the publication of a fully revised edition of their much-loved walking guide, Twenty Walks in and around Shrewsbury.

Originally published in 2012, the first edition sold an impressive 10,000 copies and quickly became a staple for local walkers. Over time, however, changes to the landscape—including new building developments and updates to footpaths such as stiles being replaced with gates by Shropshire Council and the P3 team—meant the routes were in need of an update.

Following the success of their second book, Twenty More Walks in and around Shrewsbury, published in December 2023, many readers asked when the original guide would return. In response, the Ramblers embarked on a 14‑month project to re-walk each route, make amendments, and capture fresh photographs.

The newly revised edition was collected from the printers just two weeks ago, perfectly timed for Christmas. Copies have already been supplied to local retailers, priced at £7.99.

“It’s a great gift for anyone who enjoys walking, especially those living locally,” said a spokesperson for the group. “The book showcases our wonderful countryside and encourages families to get outdoors together for exercise and fresh air.”

With the updated guide now available, walkers can once again explore Shrewsbury’s scenic routes with confidence, enjoying both familiar paths and newly improved trails.
