Lyth Hill rises quietly south of Shrewsbury, offering one of Shropshire’s most inviting panoramas. Free parking at accessible car parks puts hilltop views just a short, gentle stroll away. A network of well-maintained paths,open grasslands, benches, a scenic toposcope, and interpretive panels mark rest stops under vast skies. Ideal for walkers, families, dog lovers, and stargazers.
There are Two Car Parks at Lyth Hill. The View Point is at the Upper Car Park which is accessible from the West side, up Lyth Bank from Annscroft. The Viewpoint is NOT accessible from the Lower Car Park by car.
Parking: Open air/surface car park. No parking charges.
Accessible Parking: No designated Blue Badge parking is provided.

Luke Seal, an artist with a learning disability, has made a special ceramic tile to help visitors connect with the landscape.
You can find it at the viewpoint.
Luke moulded clay and materials found in the local area into an organic shape and added simple tactile marks, textures, and words so everyone can ‘feel the landscape’.
This tile is one of a series created for the Open Horizons project, led by Lead Artist Roz Donati of Pneuma Affinity CIC, and made in collaboration with My Options, Telford & Wrekin.
Artist Statement
Luke enjoys writing down his thoughts in his journal. He liked being part of the project and working with clay.
In this piece Luke made patterns of the stars in the sky to represent people who go to Lyth Hill to stargaze.
He also used flax seed to create patterns in the fields, responding to the rope makers of the past who worked in the area.
Level routes/Trails: The Shropshire Way and the Humphrey Kynaston Way long distance bridleway are adjacent as they pass through the site.
Route Width: Varying and uneven walking routes from the viewpoint.
Stepped Routes: Single step at one of the kissing gates from the viewpoint.
Gradient: Varying gradients.
Surface Type: Sand, gravel and grass.
Latched gates: The kissing gate next to the toposcope has a sliding latch on one side and lift latch on the other.
Kissing Gates: Kissing gates are provided either side of the car park.
Low Level Rocks: Low level rocks extend above the car park surface.
Seating: No seating at the viewpoint area. Seating at regular intervals on walking routes.
Finger Posts: Signage indicates the Shropshire Way and bridleway.

The Soaring Club opens up endless horizons without the hard climb. With nearby parking, level access from the car park, and vast open space to watch gliders sweep the sky, it's a view everyone can enjoy.
