Wellington 360 – Wrockwardine Walks – Bratton – Route 4b

Walk directions

1. Start

   Start from the church, going slightly downhill towards the War Memorial and take the lane to the right of the Old Smithy, then shortly after, up a small bank on the left and cross a stile into a grass field.

2. Step 2

   Cross the field for about 100 yards (90 metres) to a double stile into a large descending field. The path will take you directly to the far left corner of this field, to a gate out onto a busy road (beware of traffic!).

3. Step 3

   Turn left and follow the road under the railway bridge, then take the first lane on the right towards Allscott. After about 350 yards (320 metres) turn left up a short grass drive immediately before Redwood House.

4. Step 4

   Turn right down a grassy lane, then straight on through a gate and pass the back of the Severn Trent Water Treatment Works.

5. Step 5

   Go through the next gate, then keep to the track to the right along the trees for about 330 yds (300 metres) to a field entrance in front to your left. Enter the field through the kissing gate and turn left. Follow the field perimeter, turning right, then left, straight past another open field entrance still keeping the hedge on your left, then right again before coming to a stile in the next corner. Cross the stile, then turn right and follow the hedge round past a gate to another stile into the next field. Follow the hedge on your right until you meet a rough track.

6. Step 6

   Turn left for 75 yards (70 metres) to a ‘Private Road’ sign, then turn right over a stile and follow the path straight across a field to a stile in the hedge. Cross the stile and a short footbridge, then continue straight on following the edge of the field keeping the hedge to your left and crossing 3 more stiles, passing the back of Moor farm before reaching an alleyway between private properties leading out onto Bratton Road.

7. Step 7

   Cross the road and through a kissing gate into a small park then another kissing gate onto Dulwich Grange. Turn right, then bear left up the ramp onto the Silkin Way. Follow the path past the school on your left and under the road bridge. After another 75 yards (70 metres), turn right up a flight of steps and cross the field to Admaston House Community Centre car park and out onto the road.

8. Step 8

   Turn right, then immediate left into Pemberton Road, then left up a rough track, Ringers Lane, alongside the playing fields. At the 4-way junction (NB. with the path to the Community Orchard ahead) turn right over the railway bridge. Follow the path to the left (Wrekin Link) alongside the railway line for about 300 yards (275 metres). Cross a stile into a (horses) field. Keeping to the right, follow the edge of the field, over 2 stiles and up to Wrockwardine Road.

9. Step 9

   Turn right and follow the road uphill for about 0.6 mile (1 km). Towards the top of the bank. Shortly after a driveway on your left, the road bends to the right with a large grassy area on the inside of the bend. Just past the end of this cross a stile on the right into a field. Follow the hedge on your left for about 100 yards (90 metres) until you reach a stile on your left into another field. The path then goes at 45° to your right across the field to another stile into Wrockwardine Village Hall car park. Go through the car park and at the road, turn left, then right to the church entrance.
