Catherton
The white, half-timbered Catherton Cottage on the left, was a double cruck Eating Hall for workers who mined and smelted iron from bell pits on the common. It was also the medieval home of the Iron Master. The cruck timbers with lavish carved blades have been dated to 1485, the foundations are older.
