Oswestry short walks 3 – around the water works

Walk directions

1. Step 1

   From the bus station,  walk towards town via Beatrice Street

2. Step 2

   After a couple of hundred yards, turn right up the hill onto Castle Street

3. Step 3

   At top of Castle Street, cross Willow Street and go along Welsh Walls

4. Step 4

   Keep the park on your left until sharp right bend when you should cross and turn left into Brynhafod Road

5. Step 5

   Keep playing field on left, and turn left onto Jennings Road

6. Step 6

   At end of Jennings Road bear left onto Maserfield Road

7. Step 7

   Walk up this road which gives you the opportunity to stop at Oswalds Well

8. Step 8

   At the top of this road you have reached the Water Treatment Works

9. Step 9

   Turn left along lane and out through the gate

10. Step 10

    Turn right onto the road

    Go down Broomhall Lane, keeping the Water Treatment Works on the right

12. Step 12

    At the junction turn right and follow the road for approximately 100 yards

13. Step 13

    At the stile turn right onto the track

14. Step 14

    Follow the track until there is a building on the left

15. Step 15

    After the building, bear 45 degrees left and go up steeply

16. Step 16

    Go over the stile and through the field

17. Step 17

    Then go over another stile into the next field

    Keep the hedge on the right

    At the gate turn right and go down the track

    When you reach a road, go straight across and continue down the track

    When track joins Brynhafod Lane, carry on down this and continue on when it joins Brynhafod Road

    With playing field on the right, join Welsh Walls and turn right

    Follow this road until just before The Church

    Cross and go down lane at side of The Church, believed to be site of old plague pit

25. Step 25

    At end of lane turn left and go back through town to bus station
