This walk starts and finishes at the Horse and Jockey pub at Northwood. After Northwood farm you reach the edge of Wem Moss Nature Reserve, which is a Shropshire Wildlife Trust site. Walking further on into Wales you pass Moss Farm, Cadney Lane and join the canal at Cornhill Bridge, make your way along the tow path back into England and turn off at Hampton Bank Bridge.

Jockey to Wales and back with a touch of Moss. This 5 mile walk passes through England and Wales, passing the edge of Wem Moss before going along the Shropshire Union Canal.

Start
This walk starts and finishes at the Horse and Jockey pub in Northwood which has a car park. If you are driving there you should ring 01948 710427 first or look in to check that it is all right to leave your car. With your back to the pub turn right and then left up a minor road.
Step 2
After Northwood Farm there is bridleway to the left which eventually will bring you to the edge of the Wem Moss Nature Reserve.
Step 3
You may want to take a circular detour to explore this Shropshire Wildlife Trust site.
Step 4
And so into Wales as you head past Moss Farm and towards Cadney Lane. On the way you will pass a former steam corn mill and, in the distance, a windmill now converted into a dwelling.
Step 5
You join the canal at Cornhill Bridge and make your way along the tow path back into England and turn off at Hampton Bank Bridge.
Step 6
The turn off the larger road takes you to a caravan park, which you pass on your right and from there to a path to your left at Wellfield Farm.
Step 7
The public right of way is across an extensively cropped field, before returning over a small road bridge to the pub.
