Those who take the ride will enjoy both open countryside and the opportunity to enjoy the industrial heritage of the town of Oswestry, which has been an important settlement on the borders of Wales for many centuries.

This is the shortest route at 10 miles, with an option of 29½ miles and is suitable for more experienced cyclists as it includes some cycling on steep inclines and busy roads. En-route, you could enjoy a picnic at the canal near Lower Frankton or, if you choose to take the longer route, stop off for refreshments in the bustling villages of Ruyton-XI-Towns and Baschurch.

This short-cut route of 21 miles offers the chance to take in the countryside heritage area at Llanymynech. The 28 mile route is mostly fairly flat but there is one very steep descent to Porth-y-waen so excellent brakes are needed.

The 185m Shropshire Cycleway goes round the perimeter of the county and there are a number of National Cycle Routes that pass through Shropshire including the Mercian Way, which runs between Salisbury and Chester, and the Six Castles Cycleway between Shrewsbury and Leominster.
