Minsterley & Pontesbury Green Walk: Two Villages Circular

Walk directions

1. Start

   Leave the Village Hall and turn right to the roundabout. Follow the main road, signposted Pontesbury, to the last house on the right.

2. Step 2

   Turn right up a narrow path and over a stile, and then go half left across the field. Keep left of three oaks to a single stile, then to a double stile (lift the top rail), across field to two more stiles.

3. Step 3

   Turn left by the hedge and down steps to cross the quarry road, THE OLD QUARRY RAILWAY LINE and then up the other side and over the farm track through gates. Cross the field to a gate, then a stile, then a five bar gate. Go left along the ridge in the field past a tree to a stile, then another stile. Go left through two five bar gates and follow the track to the road in Pontesbury.

4. Step 4

   Turn left to the main road and cross it with care and down Station Road (a few yards to the right) for 150 yards to Station House on the right. Turn left onto a broad private farm track. Go ahead for 2/3 mile to a footpath crossing. (NOTE: This path is a permissive path which is open with the kind permission of the owner -please treat it with respect).

5. Step 5

   Turn half right over the field, going right of the pylon, to a bridge and a lane.

6. Step 6

   Turn left and over a bridge and then right at the fingerpost and over the field by the side of Minsterley Brook.

7. Step 7

   Cross the brook over the footbridge, and left along the other side of the brook to an iron bridge. Cross it to a gate and to the road, Turn left to the roundabout, then right to return to the Village Hall.
