Hodnet Walk 8 – High Hatton to Hodnet Heath

Walk directions

1. Step 1

   To start, head towards Radmoor—passing the site of the former Peplow Station on the way. Cross the A442 and follow the lane ahead, then turn left at a ‘T’ junction.

2. Step 2

   After Bowling Green look for a finger post on the right— which points left into a field. Enter the field and, keeping a hedge on your left, head again to the A442 and cross it.

3. Step 3

   Now go up the drive to Hawgreen Farm, but just before it turn left (past a pool) and cross two stiles.

4. Step 4

   Turn right and, keeping a fence on your right, head to and cross a bridge.

5. Step 5

   Go straight ahead to enter a large field where, keeping a hedge on your left, there’s a Viewpoint of the Hawkstone Hills.

6. Step 6

   After the next field go through two pedestrian gates and down a drive, past some converted barns, to reach ‘A’.

7. Step 7

   If not extending your walk, turn left to pass some houses and then look for a stile on the left, which you cross. Note. The farmer may spray out an easier path across crops in the next two fields (back to the start). If so, we suggest you follow it.

   If you wish to extend your walk, go to Step 10.

8. Step 8

   Head diagonally right to another stile, then turn right.

9. Step 9

   A gap leads into the next field, where (by an oak tree) you turn left then head diagonally right to a stile. Don’t cross it, but turn right and walk down the hedge to a pedestrian gate by the start.

10. Step 10

    At ‘A’ head left down a track to a Viewpoint of The Wrekin & High Hatton Hall.

11. Step 11

    The track soon becomes a path and you’ll reach a bridge and pedestrian gate. Now cross a field to a pedestrian gate onto Greenhurst Lane.

12. Step 12

    Turn left, then at the end of the lane turn right.

13. Step 13

    Shortly afterwards turn left to reach the start
