Start
Leave Wellington Centre past the Lytch Gate on Church Street to reach Vineyard Road. Cross at the Pelican and continue straight on up Park Street. At the main road, turn left along Whitchurch Road until you reach the roundabout.
Step 2
Just after the roundabout, cross at the Pelican. Turning left to continue along Whitchurch Road with the Charlton School on the right. As the road bends, bear right and stay on Whitchurch Road, crossing at the Pelican. Continue down the road until it bends sharply left. Just before the bend, cross and turn up the path on the right, then left over the footbridge, keeping straight on as the path meets the road.
Step 3
After 55 yards (50 metres), take the Public Footpath signposted left through a gate in a driveway (please close the gate!), then straight on through a kissing gate. Keep straight on following the edge of the field to the bottom corner. Turn right through the trees towards Apley Pool, then immediate left. Follow the path clockwise around the pool until you reach an open field. Follow the path into the field, then straight across to some steps into Apley Woods.
Step 4
Go up 4 sets of steps, then turn right down another set and straight on. Take the left turn down the ‘Yew Tree Avenue’. At the T-junction, turn left, then at the bend turn right through a kissing gate out of the woods. Continue straight on along the path and take the 1st right turn. Follow this path crossing a road until you reach the main road. Cross at the Pelican (slightly to the left) then continue as if straight on the previous path. Cross another road, then at the next main road turn left and follow the path to the footbridge. Turn right and cross the bridge.
Step 5
Follow the lane to the end, then where it meets the road, turn left up to the cross roads then straight on into Roslyn Road, then Albert Road. Turn left into Hiatt Avenue. Bear left out of Hiatt Avenue. down a path to King Street. Cross the road, turn right then Left into Victoria Road over the railway, then right into the bus station. At the zebra crossing take the passage on the left through to New Street, then turn right and follow the road back to Wellington Centre.
