Wellington 360 – Northern Walks – Route 3 – Dothill Local Nature Reserve

Walk directions

1. Start

   From Market Square turn left into Market Street. At the end, take the pedestrian crossing to the opticians and turn right along Bridge Road. At the roundabout with the supermarket to left, take 1st road exit into Spring Hill. Continue straight, the road becoming Wrockwardine Rd.

2. Step 2

   Immediately past the last property on left, opposite a black & white house, turn left onto a path which soon turns right to go through an underpass and continue straight for over 1/2 mile (0.8 km). (NB. A turning on the left will take you to the Wrekin Link and Admaston Community Orchard (see route 2), After passing through the next underpass turn right and after 110 yds (100 metres) up steps to join the Silkin Way to enter Dothill Local Nature Reserve. (NB. A little further on from the steps is a ramp providing alternative access.)

3. Step 3

   Keep ahead, bearing left after crossing the footbridge. Continue on the main path, skirting Bean Hill Wood, eventually reaching Tee Lake. With the pool on the right.

4. Step 4

   At the top of the rise, by the bench, you can divert to the “Henge” meeting area set behind young trees. Return to the tarmac path soon crossing a quiet road by Dothill School. Go straight forward to join the main path where you turn left and pass a playing area. Turn right at next junction to follow a rising path through playing fields and then passing Dothill Pool on the right. Continue on the undulating path above the pool.

5. Step 5

   Cross Severn Drive to enter Cound Close. Turn left into Barnett Close. Bear right at the end to cross into Deer Park Road  by a play area and continue ahead to the junction with North Rd. Turn right then take the pedestrian crossing to continue ahead to Spring Hill. At the junction, take the rising path on the left to enter Vineyard Rd.. Turn 2nd right into Church Street to return to Market Square.
