Birchmeadow is a wonderful park for all the family located in the heart of Broseley. There is a well-equipped play area including features that are accessible for children and young people with disabilities. The site includes a giant sand pit, swings, slides, balance features, a roundabout, spiders net, climbing features and zip wire. Other facilities include football pitches, basketball court, a pump cycle track and woodland walks.

Getting there & parking
Free parking is available all year round. One car park is available off Cockshutt Lane (this is open at all times). Another is available adjacent to the Birchmeadow Centre (this is locked at dusk).
Broseley is well served by bus links from Telford and Bridgnorth.

Things to see & do
Family fun - Birchmeadow Park is a little over 5 hectares and is a fantastic community space. The site has a wonderful play area with many features that are accessible for children and young people with different abilities. There’s a giant sand pit, a 4m spider’s net, climbing features, swings, slides, roundabout and other features that are perfect for young people to enjoy. Older children are catered for by a huge basket swing, zip wire, basketball court, pump cycle track and youth shelter. Nearby are picnic tables on you can relax.
Sport for all - Birchmeadow also plays a vital role in local sports provision. Two football pitches are used by local clubs. There are also changing rooms and showers on site. The adult pitch has dug outs. On evenings and weekends the Birchmeadow is a hive of activity with junior football coaching sessions and adult matches taking place. This is football at the ‘grass roots’ level. Young people can get actively involved from a young age and then progress to playing for their local club. The wide-open grassy areas are perfect for an informal kick-around, flying a kite or any other game that comes to mind.
Escape into nature -Birchmeadow Park also has more natural areas. The woodland on the mount is crossed by paths that allow you some peace and solitude.

What's special about...
Broseley has a strong claim to being the site of the first ever wooden railway. Propelled by horse, manpower or gravity, the railway would have served the coal mine that once existed in the town. The Birchmeadow itself was once the site of an ironworks. In 1937 the Birchmeadow was gifted to the people of Broseley as an area for free recreation. It is now held in charitable trust. Shropshire Council work closely with the Birchmeadow Park Management Committee to manage the site.
With recent funding from the Commumity Infrastructure Levy, Broseley Town Council and the UK Government, through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the park has benefited from a range of improvements including the new play area, improved paths and a new suite of information panels.
Whilst you’re in Broseley explore the ‘Jitties’, the historic network of narrow passageways that wind amongst the former workers’ cottages. Make sure you visit the historic high street and follow the town trail that takes in a number of historic buildings, including the Broseley Pipe Museum.
