Volunteer Rangers
Would you like the opportunity to get more involved with the many aspects of managing countryside and heritage sites and meet others with similar interests?
If you enjoy spending time in the outdoors and you have some spare time in the week, or perhaps the occasional Saturday or Sunday, you could help us by carrying out practical conservation work such as hedgelaying, scrub clearance, tree planting, keeping sites free of litter or footpath clearance. We even have opportunities for artists and writers, researchers and historians to tell the story of our sites and the wider countryside. If there are sites that you visit regularly and would like to help please contact us for more information.
Even just acting as our eyes and ears whilst you enjoy a site and looking out for fallen trees or reporting any unusual wildlife sightings really helps.
If so, you could become one of our Volunteer Rangers.
As a Volunteer Ranger you could:
- Conserve wildlife and their habitats, attend identification training and courses,
- Organise events and activities,
- Promote and encourage others to enjoy their local greenspaces,
- Make Shropshire a better place to live, and so much more.

We have Countryside Heritage Sites all over the county, each with their own beauty and character, see the interactive map to learn more.
Some sites have dedicated groups and undertake regular tasks, they’re always looking for more people to get involved and would welcome you whole-heartedly. Sites with dedicated groups are listed below:
